Marie Ndiaye

Legal Aid Society
Supervising Attorney, Decarceration Project
New York NY
Marie Ndiaye is the supervising attorney of the Decarceration Project at the Legal Aid Society. The Decarceration Project is a litigation and policy initiative dedicated to ending the pretrial detention of low-income New Yorkers and eradicating the criminal justice system’s disproportionate impact on communities of color. Before re-joining Legal Aid, Marie was the senior policy manager at the Katal Center for Health, Equity, and Justice, where she focused on pretrial justice – bail, discovery, speedy trial – and parole reform. Marie began her legal career at the Legal Aid Society as a staff attorney in the Criminal Defense Practice. As a public defender, she represented more than 2,000 low-income New Yorkers charged with misdemeanors and felonies in Manhattan’s Criminal Court. Marie is a graduate of the City University of New York’s Hunter College. She received her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 2012.
