Rex Chen is the immigration director for Legal Services NYC. He frequently gives legal trainings around the country on advanced immigration litigation topics. He co-authored a 2015 Vera Institute advisory about termination motions for immigrant children. Before LSNYC, he worked at Safe Passage Project, where he helped file a habeas lawsuit to defend several forcibly separated immigrant children. He has also worked at Catholic Charities of Newark (NJ), where he directed a small immigration program and won a Third Circuit appeal involving the interplay between a United Nations Convention and immigration law. He is Taiwanese-American and speaks Spanish.
