Aileen Moffatt is NLADA’s vice president for external relations and oversees private fundraising and membership. Throughout her career, Aileen has been a successful leader, mentor, and motivator of staff who consistently surpass goals. As a skilled executive and consultant, she has worked with organizations in transition, helping them to stabilize then strategically position for success using plans for fundraising, membership engagement, staff development, marketing, and promotional activities. She is a seasoned fundraiser, a problem solver with solid organizational skills, and has an innate ability to network with senior executives, major donors, and key constituencies. Aileen’s development career began at the College of William and Mary. Relocating to Washington, D.C., she began working with a diverse range of organizations, from well-established nonprofits with large institutional budgets to start-ups and all-volunteer groups. In 2004, Aileen opened her development consulting practice with a focus on helping organizations adjust or prepare for changing circumstances. Representative client activities included creation and implementation of innovative and well-grounded funding strategies for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; establishing major gift programs using targeted research to qualify prospects; creation and oversight of donor communications and social/marketing strategies; design/production of major fundraising events; and strategic planning with corresponding workplans based in measurable outcomes. Key clients included The Textile Museum, National Women’s History Museum, National Cathedral, Coalition for the Homeless, and Reading Is Fundamental. Aileen holds a PhD in history from the University of Manitoba and MA and undergraduate degrees from the University of Saskatchewan.
